Canvases of Care

Nurses spend countless hours providing care to others, but sometimes that’s hard to see. In celebration of Nurses Week, GE HealthCare honored nurses by turning their hours into brushstrokes to paint a detailed picture of their never-ending commitment to care. And because a nurse’s job is never finished, neither are these paintings. Intentionally left unfinished, they symbolize the continued dedication, resilience and passion of nurses everywhere.

Working with artist Tim Okamura, we visualized nearly 200k hours of care across five paintings.

Casey, 22,064 brushstrokes

Nicholas, 18,200 brushstrokes

Richard, 32,240 brushstrokes

Leona, 85,176 brushstrokes

Simone, 42,016 brushstrokes

Our nurses’ personal stories, like this one, were shared on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and Twitter.

care that can

After 130 years, GE HealthCare was breaking off into its own standalone company and was looking for a more emotional way to showcase its people-first principle and mission to create a world where healthcare has no limits. To do this, we focused not only on the company’s innovative technology, but the compassion, grit and relentless perseverance of the people behind it. We launched the new global platform with the film “Care Desk,” along with social and OOH that highlighted the human side of health tech—to show how in a world of can’t, GE HealthCare is Care that Can.
